BC20 and BC40 are the latest offering from Warwick in the small size bass combo market. Since small amps are often used in quite places it is very beneficial if they produce a minimum of unwanted noise and hum. These amps benefit from what is called Lo Impedance design. This is a method where you match component values very carefully to minimize a phenomenon called thermal noise.
Class A circuitry is used in the preamp, without going into too much tech talk it can be said that it gives a clearer faster and more transparent sound.
BC20 and BC40 both sounds like big amps. They have high frequency horns just like a big 4x10 cabinet so all the slaps and snaps cut right through and the depth of the cabinet is big enough to produce convincing amounts of low frequencies. It has a box perfectly matched with the speaker drivers they are equipped with making sure the whole system works in an optimal and controlled manner.
When night falls and you don’t want to disturb the neighbors BC20 and BC 40 has a great sounding headphone output where you can mix your bass in with your favorite track from your iPod (or other player) mixed in through the aux input, all in stereo.
There is good distortion and bad distortion. BC20 has no distortion so you have to bring your own. It has a circuit called DDL (Dynamic Distortion Limiter). This ingenious device reads the distortion level and makes sure it stays at max 0. 3% THD, always.
The Eq circuit is tuned like a pro Eq. It controls the tonal character of your instruments in a musical way.
The BC20 and BC40 both have power supplies with so called double isolated transformer. This means that you connect to the mains with a 2 pin cord. Aside from looking sleeker it minimizes the risk of ground hum in the amp.
The fronts of the amps are tilted slightly so the sound projects upwards.
The Speakers are protected by an attractive steel grille.
The versatility of these amps is enhanced by the double input feature. They can easily handle 2 instruments together, an ideal situation in a teaching or rehearsing situation.
Now that we have told you what both these amps are what is the difference between them? Simply the BC20, predictably is a 20 Watt amp. It has a 8” speaker with a 2” inch high frequency driver. The BC40
is by the same logic a 40 Watt amp with 10” speaker driver and the same 2” high frequency driver as its little brother.
These 2 little powerhouses are not only great as a home, or beginners first amp. They fit equally well as backstage tune up amp, rehearsal room amp, acoustic amp, coffee house gig amp piano trio amp the applications are endless.
The BC 20,40,80 model combos all feature a dual conductor "mini"
power cable for easy connectivity, simple travel, benefits of
safety, and reduction of ground hum. The dual pin connection has
a continuously lifted ground, so no interfering hum can enter the
circuit from outside sources. The internal transformer in double
encased preventing high voltage from ever causing a safety issue.
The power stitch is located on the bottom rear of the combo to
create maximum proximity separation of high and low voltage circuits
within the system, this also reduces the possibility of unwanted noise.
These are features that we're carefully planned to provide the highest
